Kazakhstan can play key role in Central Asia development - Indian PM

ASTANA. April 16. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Kazakhstan can play an important role in the development of Central Asia. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said it at a briefing after the negotiations with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana on Saturday.

"I have seen impressive progress of the people of Kazakhstan, the richness of culture of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh people's determination to build their great future. Kazakhstan is a country with enormous potential; it can play an important role in promoting peace and accelerate development in Central Asia. India is willing to work with Kazakhstan in these directions," M. Singh noted.

He said the talks with President Nazarbayev were fruitful; they managed to discuss a whole range of issues of interest to both countries.

The Prime Minister emphasized that India and Kazakhstan achieved high level of political understanding. During the meeting the sides agreed to continue regular top level meetings.
