Kazakhstan, Belgium discuss cooperation between nuclear research centers
BRUSSELS. August 9. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ The issues of cooperation between the nuclear research centers of Kazakhstan and Belgium were discussed at the meeting of Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, Head of the Kazakh Mission to the EU and NATO Yerik Utembayev with the leadership of SCK•CEN nuclear research centre in Mol, Belgium.
As the diplomat noted, Kazakhstan is interested in the experience of one of the largest scientific research institutes in Europe. "We agreed to arrange joint training of specialists, prepare for developing a long-term nuclear cooperation program", Utembayev said.
The sides also discussed the issues of holding joint research in the spheres of space, new technologies, nuclear safety and effects of radiation on human life.
A number of planned top-level documents will promote cooperation between Kazakhstani and Belgian scientific nuclear centers. A protocol of intentions is expected to be signed in the course of the official visit of Belgium's Crown Prince Philippe to Kazakhstan. A memorandum of understanding is planned to be signed during the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's state visit to Brussels in October 2010.
