Kazakhstan became leader of Islamic financing thanks to its President - Kelimbetov
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Thanks to President Nazarbayev Kazakhstan has become one of the leaders of Islamic financing in the Central Asian region and CIS, believes Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Kairat Kelimbetov.
"As you know, President Nursultan Nazarbayev received the Global Islamic Finance Award (GIFA) [at the 10th World Islamic Economic Forum in Dubai]. This is a very prestigious award in the sphere of Islamic financing. To be more specific, there are only three awards in that sphere... And thanks to our President Kazakhstan has become one of the leaders in Islamic financing in the Central Asian region and CIS," Mr. Kelimbetov said at a press conference at the KazMedia Center on Thursday. He also reminded that on the instruction of the Head of State the Government of Kazakhstan had approved the Roadmap on Islamic Finance Development till 2020 and Kazakhstan had become the member of the Islamic Financial Services Board.
