Kazakhstan bans Tablighi Jamaat group

ASTANA. February 26. KAZINFORM The Prosecutor-General's Office has recognized the international religious movement Tablighi Jamaat as extremist and banned its activity in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"The international organization Tablighi Jamaat was recognized as extremist on February 26, 2013 and banned in the Republic of Kazakhstan," the statement of the Prosecutor-General's Office says.

The Tablighi Jamaat group was labeled as extremist by courts in the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan as well.
