Kazakhstan backs idea on opening foreign universities' affiliates - Nazarbayev

ALMATY. June 4. KAZINFORM /Rassul Bakhamov/ Kazakhstan backs the idea on opening affiliates of foreign universities. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said it addressing Koen Vanhaerents, member of Baker & McKenzie International during the Investment Summit in Almaty.

The foreign representative suggested attracting in Kazakhstan affiliates of leading foreign universities with the purpose of improving education quality. He mentioned the experience of Qatar that established the Education City spreading across 17 sq km of the area and consisting of international universities.

The idea is that the projected affiliates will enroll students from Kazakhstan and other CIS states.

"The Government of Kazakhstan will study the issue. We will create a working group to realize the idea", N. Nazarbayev said.
