Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to foster environmental cooperation
The Kazakh Majilis proceeded to the draft law “On ratification of the Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on cooperation in the sphere of environmental protection and ecology”, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Chairman of the Majilis Ecology and Nature Management Committee Yedil Zhanbyrshin said potential cooperation embodies air and water contamination prevention and control, solid waste management, conservation of biodiversity, development of joint action plans for improving the ecological situation in the Aral Sea basin, environmental situation monitoring, establishment of joint educational institutions, manpower training.
Under the agreement, the parties will take necessary measures to prevent environmental emergencies.
The Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on cooperation in the sphere of environmental protection and ecology was signed in Tashkent on December 22, 2022.
