Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan discussed bilateral cooperation issues

ASTANA. June 4. KAZINFORM The 13th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan chaired by First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Regional Development of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev was held in Astana on June 3-4, Kazinform has learnt from the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan.

The key issue of the meeting was expansion of trade-economic cooperation, and development of cooperation in spheres of transport, transfer and energy between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

Bakytzhan Sagintayev stressed that trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in 2012 amounted to almost USD 2 billion, which is 11% more than in 2011.

In addition, the sides agreed to continue the implementation of the Kazakh-Uzbek Economic Cooperation Strategy for 2007-2016.

Following the meeting, a protocol of the 13th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was signed.
