Kazakhstan and Turkey to establish Strategic Cooperation Council
ASTANA. May 23. KAZINFORM Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who arrived in Kazakhstan for an official visit.
The sides had talks in narrow and extended format. They discussed the issues of cooperation in political, trade and economic and cultural-humanitarian areas.
The President of Kazakhstan and Prime Minister of Turkey exchanged views on topical international and regional issues as the situation in the Middle East, promoting the reconstruction of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OIC and the presidency of Turkey in the CICA.
In addition, they discussed issues of raising the level of mutual trade, investment attraction, transport development, in particular, the prospects for the connection of Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railroad with the railway system of Turkey.
Following the talks, there was signed a number of documents. One of them was a joint statement on the establishment of the High-Level Council of Strategic Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkey. The Council will be an effective tool for multi-faceted cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkey and will determine the strategy for the development of bilateral and multilateral relations in all spheres of interaction.
