Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan pledge to boost farm products mutual supplies

As part of his working visit to Kyrgyzstan the Kazakh Agriculture Minister, Aidarbek Saparov, met with Bakyt Torobaev, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister for Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, to discuss prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation, Kazinform News Agency cites the Ministry’s press service.

In 2023 the turnover of farm products between the two countries reached 299.4 million US dollars of which 220.1 million fell on exports and 79.3 million on imports. For the past seven months of 2024, the wheat flour, paste, and sunflower oil exports from Kazakhstan grew, while Kyrgyzstan’s dairy, bread and flour products imports also rose.

The Kazakh minister said agriculture is a strategic sector for cooperation adding the countries should further bolster trade, improve its structure, and expand the range of supplied goods.

The sides also agreed to deliver Kazakhstan’s wheat to Kyrgyzstan.

Besides, Kyrgyzstan expressed interest in mineral fertilizers imports, increasing cattle export quotas, while Kazakhstan is interested in rathe ripe imports.

Following the talks, the ministers agreed to set up a working group to tackle issues arising promptly.

As reported before, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev surveyed LLP Borte Milka commercial dairy farm in the Badam village of Ordabasy district in Turkistan region.
