Kazakhstan and Japan should cooperate in peaceful usage of nuclear technologies - Vice Chairman of Astana Affiliate of Nur Otan Party M. Yerketayev
ASTANA. August 6. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Kazakhstan and Japan should actively cooperate in the field of peaceful usage of nuclear technologies. Vice Chairman of the Astana affiliate of Nur Otan People's Democratic Party Mukhtar Yerketayev has said at it a roundtable entitled "The 65th Anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Tragedy" held in Atameken ethnographic complex.
"We, Kazakhstanis, still feel the consequences of the nuclear tests carried out on our land in the Soviet period. Great number of scientific works on liquidation of these consequences has been published; however, we cannot achieve such aim today. Therefore, on the initiative of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the polygon was closed", M. Yerketayev said.
He highlighted that nuclear fuel and nuclear technologies, as the President had stated, would be used in Kazakhstan in peaceful aims only.
According to him, the roundtable is called to attract the community's attention to the nuclear safety problem.
