Kazakhstan and Italy have established strong relations - Kassym-Jomart Tokayev

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with his Italian counterpart President Sergio Mattarella in the Akorda presidential residence focusing on bilateral relations, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from the Akorda press service.

Welcoming the Italian delegation in the Kazakh capital, the Head of State noted that today's meeting is an excellent opportunity to discuss important aspects of bilateral relations that are of mutual interest.

“I have fond memories of my visit to Italy, which turned out to be extremely successful thanks to your hospitality and willingness to create all the conditions for productive negotiations. The two states enjoy very close cooperation in various fields. Many Italian companies operate in our market. There is rapid growth. Cultural and humanitarian ties are also developing dynamically. Therefore, I believe that very strong relations have been established between our countries,” emphasized Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

In turn, the President of Italy expressed sincere gratitude for the meeting, which, according to him, serves as a testament to the genuine friendship between the two countries.

Sergio Mattarella highly appreciated the state of bilateral relations, noting the significant potential for expanding the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Italy.

“We have truly excellent relations in all areas – political, economic, trade, and cultural," the President of Italy added.

During the conversation, the heads of state discussed in detail the prospects for developing trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

As Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed, Italy ranks third among Kazakhstan's largest trading partners and is also among the top five largest investors in our economy. Last year, mutual trade turnover amounted to about $20 billion. About 250 Italian companies operating in Kazakhstan make a significant contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry, renewable energy, engineering, and agriculture.

Оn top of that, the heads of state exchanged views on current global issues.
