Kazakhstan and France to set up ‘Sarkozy - Nazarbayev’ committee

ASTANA. October 6. KAZINFORM /Aigul Tulekbayeva/   Kazakhstan and France will create a "Sarkozy - Nazarbayev" committee.

"We agreed to create "Sarkozy - Nazarbayev" committee that will be convened on a regular basis", N. Nazarbayev said during the negotiations with his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy.

He also noted that France is one of the leading economic partners of Kazakhstan worldwide. It is the first European Council country which has signed an agreement on strategic partnership with Kazakhstan.

"The trade turnover has increased tenfold and amounted to USD 6.5 bln since 2003. We are committed to intensify the process", - N. Nazarbayev noted.

He also emphasized that a package of documents has been signed today. "24 agreements have been prepared for signing today. This is the breakthrough in relations of Kazakhstan and France", - the President of Kazakhstan stated.
