The sides discussed the issues of practical realization of the agreements reached within an official visit of Nursultan Nazarbayev to the Headquarters of the European Union last year.

"We pay great significance to intensification of cooperation with our European partners. At present the priority issue is to develop and conclude a new agreement on enhanced partnership and cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union instead of the current, which was adopted in 1999," Y.Kazykhanov said.

The EU Commissioner, in his turn, noted that Europe intends to deepen and expand partnership with Kazakhstan.

"For many years EU and Kazakhstan have oil partnership. The European companies produce oil here and send it to Europe. We also want to deepen this cooperation, working at new deposits and complement this energy partnership, working on the following scheme: energy effectiveness, nuclear security, renewable energy resources and gas production," Günther Oettinger said.
