Kazakhstan and China plan to ink nuclear cooperation memo

BEIJING. KAZINFORM "Kazakhstan and China plan to sign a memorandum of cooperation in the sphere of nuclear energy during the visit of Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang to Kazakhstan on December 12," Kazatomprom JSC managing director Sergei Poltoratsky told the 8th sitting of the Sino-Kazakh subcommittee for energy cooperation held in Beijing.

"The countries elaborated a memo of understanding on deepening of cooperation in the sphere of nuclear industry. It will open new horizons for further nuclear cooperation between the two nations," he added. "Kazakhstan has been actively involved in cooperation with largest Chinese nuclear companies, such as CNNC and CGNPC. Semizbai U joint venture produced above 100,000 tons of uranium last year. Above 5,000 tons of uranium were delivered last year to China under the long-term natural uranium supply contracts," he resumed.
