Kazakhstan and Belarus eye inter-parliamentary cooperation

ASTANA. December 26. KAZINFORM Majilis Speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin has received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Kazakhstan Anatoly Nichkasov today, the press service of the chamber reports.

At the meeting the sides touched upon a wide range of issues related to Kazakhstani-Belarusian cooperation, having noted Kazakhstan and Belarus are reliable political and economic partners, closely cooperating within the Customs Union, in the first place.

The interlocutors agreed that regular meetings of presidents Nursultan Nazarbayev and Alexander Lukashenko promote further strengthening of the bilateral ties.

Speaking of Majilis' activities, Mr. Nigmatulin highlighted the work on implementation of the "Kazakhstan-2050" Development Strategy and integration processes and strategic agreements of the leaders of the two countries.

The Belarusian envoy stressed that Nursultan Nazarbayev's grandiose idea on the creation of the European Economic Council boosts the development of all integration processes.

Mr. Nichkasov also emphasized that Kazakhstan develops dynamically in all spheres and the G-Global platform and other projects initiated by the Kazakh President are of high international prestige.

The Majilis Speaker, in turn, congratulated Anatoly Nichkasov on Belarus' successful chairmanship in the CIS in 2013.

The sides also paid utmost attention to the strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Kazakhstan and Belarus in bilateral format as well as within the CIS PA, EurAsEC and CSTO.
