Kazakhstan's №1 in tennis up in WTA rankings
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan's №1 in tennis Zarina Diyas has once again improved her standing in the updated WTA rankings this week, Kazinform refers to Vesti.kz.
Last week the 21-year-old Diyas reached second round of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome where she was toppled by Canadian Eugenie Bouchard in two straight sets 6:3, 6:4. After that the Kazakhstani athlete rose to №32 of the rankings. Kazakhstan-based tennis player Yaroslava Shvedova lost 6 spots and plummeted to №65 of the rankings. Unlike Shvedova, Yulia Putintseva climbed 2 spots up to №105. As for top 3, Maria Sharapova of Russia who won the Internazionali BNL d'Italia title in Rome elbowed aside Simona Halep of Romania and landed the 2nd place of the WTA rankings. American Serena Williams still rules the rankings.
