Kazakhmys to channel KZT 2.3 bln for Karaganda social projects

RAGANDA. December 27. KAZINFORM /Olga Petrenko/ The day before the Karaganda region akimat and Kazakhmys Corporation signed the social cooperation package plan.

"This document, as the previous ones we have signed before, conforms the tasks the Head of State set in order to raise business social responsibility. This plan can be referred to as continuation of the efficient cooperation between the executive authorities and the region's strategic enterprise", Karaganda region governor Serik Akhmetov said.

The corporation will allocate KZT 2.3 bln in 2012 for the implementation of socially important projects of the region voiced at the signing ceremony.

"The memo for 2011 has been executed by the corporation. A series of large projects, including the construction of an Ice Palace and a tennis court in Karaganda, construction and installation of the Independence Monument, monuments to Kanysh Satpayev, Kazybek Bi and Kassym Amanzholov," Akhmetov noted.
