Kazakhmys enlists help of Chinese contractor to build Aktogai mining plant

UST-KAMENOGORSK. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan's copper-mining giant Kazakhmys has named Non Ferrous China (NFC) as a contractor for construction of a mining and processing plant in eastern Kazakhstan.

The $2.3 billion worth project will be constructed at Aktogai field. "Non Ferrous China boasts extensive experience in the construction of such plants, including on the territory of Kazakhstan. We are glad to extend cooperation with our Chinese partner that will enable us to launch production of copper from sulphide ore in Aktogai in 2017," general managing director of Kazakhmys Oleg Novachuk said. NFC is the only foreign company involved in the construction of the Aktogai mining and processing plant in East Kazakhstan region.
