Kazakh Vice FM N. Yermekbayev took part in Moscow consultations on Afghanistan

ASTANA. January 25. KAZINFORM Regional consultations regarding the situation in Afghanistan were held under the aegis of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Moscow January 25.

The meeting was organized on the level of vice ministers of foreign affairs, the press service of the Kazakh MFA informs.

Delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan as well as India, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan attended the event. Kazakh delegation was led by Vice FM Nurlan Yermekbayev.

The importance of the Moscow meeting is proved by the fact that it was held on the threshold of the International Conference on Afghanistan in London. As is known, Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE, Secretary of State-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev is to take part in it.

Delivering a speech, Mr. Yermekbayev told about the measures taken by the Kazakh Government on providing aid to the suffering Afghan people and further plans on maintaining Afghanistan. As he noted, the issue of stabilization of Afghanistan could be included in the agenda of the Summit of the OSCE Leaders in Astana.
