Kazakh, U.S. Presidents talked over phone

ASTANA. May 1. KAZINFORM President Nursultan Nazarbayev has had a telephone conversation his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama on the initiative of the American side.

As the Presidential press service informs, the U. S. President highly appraised Kazakhstan's achievements and wished success to our country in implementation of the socio-economic and political development plans.

State and prospects of the Kazakh-American relations, further steps on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries were discussed.

The parties exchanged views on global and regional security including the situation in the Central Asian region. B. Obama expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan for its contribution to stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan.

Special attention was given to the issues concerning non-proliferation of the mass destruction weapons, implementation of N. Nazarbayev's initiatives in this sphere and those outlined within the Nuclear Safety Summit held in Washington last April.

The Head of State once again expressed his condolences to the U.S. President upon death of many people in the devastating tornado that struck southern part of the country.
