Kazakh & Russian Presidents ratify Agr't on Integrated regional air defense system establishment

ASTANA. December 30. KAZINFORM - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law "On ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan to establish an Integrated regional air defense system of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan".

The law was adopted by the State Duma on December 20, 2013 and approved by the Federation Council on December 25. The agreement was signed in Astana on January 30, 2013 by the Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu and his Kazakh counterpart Adilbek Zhaksybekov.

Integration and application of the integrated air defense system will be made on the basis of coordination of joint actions of troops (forces) of the Integrated air defense system in peacetime, saving their direct National Command subordination, the use of these forces on a single concept and plan in time of war, the unity of approaches to definition of requirements related to military combat readiness and training of troops, the organization of their operational and combat education.

Integrated air defense system of troops is headed by the commander appointed by the presidents of both countries upon the recommendations of the Defense Ministers of Russia and Kazakhstan.

Integrated air defense system command location is the city of Almaty (Kazakhstan). The agreement was concluded for five years with an automatic renewal for subsequent five-year periods.
