Kazakh Prime Minister received EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti
ASTANA. May 21. KAZINFORM Today, Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov has met with member of the Foreign Investors Council under the Kazakh President, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti, Primeminister.kz informed.
The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation in financial and economic spheres as well as joint infrastructural projects.
"Cooperation with the EBRD is of paramount importance for our country. The projects Kazakhstan and EBRD implement in the field of energy, manufacturing industry, transport infrastructure, small and medium businesses are significant for the Kazakh economy," Akhmetov said.
"We welcome our business cooperation and are ready to continue this course of joint work," the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan noted.
Suma Chakrabarti emphasized the success of cooperation between EBRD and Kazakhstan, which "has been developing in the spirit of partnership for twenty years."
Following the meeting, the sides signed a memorandum of understanding between Kazakhstan Environmental Protection Ministry and EBRD on cooperation in the sector of solid waste management and water management sector.
The document was signed by Environmental Protection Minister N.Kapparov and EBRD President S.Chakrabarti. This memorandum is aimed at strengthening the cooperation of Kazakhstan and the EBRD in the protection of the environment.
The memorandum will allow to improve the investment climate in key sectors, as well as increase the level of cooperation on environmental protection in the sectors of solid waste management and water management.
