Kazakh President's biography presented in NY
ASTANA. June 25. KAZINFORM Presentation of the first western biography of the Kazakh President Nazarbayev and the Making of Kazakhstan took place in the prestigious Harvard Club in New York on June 23, the press-office of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the U.S.A. informs.
Jonathan Aitken, the author of the biography, former member of the British Cabinet, UN Under Secretary-General for Public Information Kyotaka Akasaka, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the U.S. Erlan Idrissov, Permanent representative of Kazakhstan to the UN Byrganym Aitimova and representatives of diplomatic and consular corps accredited in New York took part in the event.
Former US Ambassador to the Soviet Union Jack Matlock addressed the guests with a welcoming speech. According to him, while working in Moscow he noticed Nazarbayev's strategic thinking and vision that are now vividly described in the interesting book of western biographer.
Jonathan Aitken notes that the book becomes more and more popular with western readers, in less than a year it had two editions in the UK and in the US.
Kazakh Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the audience for interest in the biography of Kazakh President. Ha also emphasized that the history of the country was inseparable from its leader and the book of Mr. Aitken was virtually chronicles of independent Kazakhstan.
