Kazakh President receives Chairman of «Kazakhstan Temir Zholy»
ASTANA. November 26. KAZINFORM - President Nursultan Nazarbayev has received the President of "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy ''National Company" JSC Askar Mamin, the press office of the President informs.
Mamin informed about the activities of the company aimed at the formation of Kazakhstan in 2016 as a transport and logistics hub of the region.
The President noted the importance of new railway lines planned to be launched in 2014: "Zhezkazgan Beyneu" and "Arkalyk-Shubarkol". The lines will optimize the configuration of the international transport corridors in the directions of "East-West" and "North-South" as well as shorten the distance of "Dostyk-Aktau" route by 748 kilometers.
President of "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy ''National Company" JSC spoke about the ambitious program "Kazakhstan-New Silk Road" which includes major infrastructure projects to improve transit potential, formation of domestic and foreign transport and logistics system.
Currently 14 regular container shuttle trains "Europe-Asia" run through Kazakhstan. In early 2014 it is planned to organize three more container trains on the lines "China-Central Asia" and "China-Europe".
Following the meeting the Head of State has given a number of specific instructions on the issues discussed.
