Kazakh President met with descendants of victims of political repressions
ASTANA. May 27. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has held a meeting in commemoration of the victims of political repressions in his Akorda residence today; the Presidential press service told Kazinform.
He met with the descendants of the people repressed from Kazakhstan and deported from abroad to Kazakhstan during the 1930-50s.
"Our meeting is held on the eve of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions. We are grateful to everyone who takes part in the international project "Memory for the sake of the Future" and the conference "From History to Modernity", the Head of the State said.
N. Nazarbayev noted that since the first days of its independence Kazakhstan fostered the values of tolerance, equality and friendship of all nationalities, stability inside the country. "Due to this our country is achieving success, people's life is improving, the economy developing. Kazakhstan is respected by the world community. Thanks to tolerance we host congresses of world and traditional religions' leaders and initiate integration processes", the President emphasized.
