Kazakh President met with Cardinal Angelo Sodano
ASTANA. September 6. KAZINFORM Today Kazakh President has met with Italian Cardinal of the Romantic Catholic Church, Dean of the College of Cardinals Angelo Sodano, the Presidential press service informs.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted fruitful cooperation between Kazakhstan and Vatican, and also thanked the Holy See for the support of an idea of calling the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and an active participation in its work.
In turn, A. Sodano extended Pope's Benedict XVI greetings and stressed that Vatican highly appreciated Kazakhstan's contribution to the interfaith harmony development, the country's role in the international security and in the sphere of interreligious and interethnic dialogue and tolerance.
Today there are more than 100 catholic churches and chapels in Kazakhstan.
