Kazakh President learns about economic progress in Karaganda, Mangystau, N Kazakhstan regions

TANA. October 12. KAZINFORM Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev participated in the events within the framework of the Days of Culture of Karaganda, Mangystau and North Kazakhstan regions at the Palace of Peace and Accord in Astana on Wednesday; Kazinform refers to the presidential press service.

Nazarbayev visited the exhibition demonstrating the regions' progress in economic, cultural, healthcare, education, tourism, and business fields.

Governor of Karaganda region Serik Akhmetov informed of the economic situation and social development in the region. For 20 years the gross regional product increased from KZT 2 billion to 2 trillion. Presently, this region ranks third among all regions of Kazakhstan in GRP. During the past 10 years the region's industrial output grew 3.8 times.

More than 4 million square meters of housing was put into operation during the years of independence. The region built 38 new educational institutions, 18 new hospitals.

Under the program of forced industrial innovative development, 42 investment projects totaling KZT 272.8 billion with 5,000 new jobs were included in the Industrialization Map. Of them, 18 projects have already been realized.

Governor of Mangystau region Krymbek Kusherbayev told about the socio-economic development of his region, which has one of the highest GRP per capita - more than USD 19 thousand in 2010.

The region ranks second in Kazakhstan in the volume of attracted investments.

3 million square million of housing, 160 new kindergartens and educational institutions were commissioned during the past 10 years.

Speaking of the results of socio-economic development of North Kazakhstan region Governor Serik Bilyalov noted that 12 percent of the country's agricultural output is provided by his region.

15 innovation projects worth KZT 28.5 billion from North Kazakhstan region were included in the Kazakhstan Industrialization Map.

More than 21,000 small and medium businesses involving 103 thousand people operate in the region.
