Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov, Chief of the Presidential Administration Aslan Mussin, President's Aide Bakhyt Sultanov and Minister for Agriculture Akhylbek Kurishbayev took part in the sitting.

A. Kurishbayev reported on the progress of preparation for harvesting campaign, and urgent issues of the agrarian sector.

This year Kazakhstan expects its grain harvest will reach 14-15 million tons. That will allow to provide the domestic needs in full. The harvesting season has already been started in Almaty, Aktobe, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda and South Kazakhstan regions. To date 450,000 hectares have been harvested.

It was noted that the major part of crops - 13.9 million ha or 83.1% - were in good and satisfactory condition. However, some of the grain crop in West Kazakhstan and Aktobe regions were affected due to drought and hot weather.

N. Nazarbayev instructed the Government to ensure the stability of domestic bread and flour prices and avoid sudden jumps in prices. Besides, the President urged to analyze financial situation in the drought-hit regions and take measures to support them.
