Kazakh President congratulates Christians on Easter
ASTANA. KAZINFORM Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has visited today the Svyato-Voznesensky (Saint Ascension) Cathedral in Almaty to congratulate those gathered on Easter, the Akorda press service said.
Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan Alexander presented the President the Easter egg. "This year Easter is celebrated the same day by Catholic and Orthodox Christians. It is the common holiday for all Kazakhstanis for our country ensures the equality of all religions. Our people celebrate Easter and Christmas, Nauryz and Qurban Ait. It became a tradition," the President said. The Head of State wished the Christians and each nation living in Kazakhstan health, wellbeing and prosperity. Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan Alexander thanked the President for visiting the Cathedral and warm Easter congratulations. "As you have wisely said, it is the nationwide holiday because you pursue the policy of unity, peace and consent," the Metropolitan added.
