Kazakh President approves increase in excise rates for strong alcohol products

ASTANA. KAZINFORM Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has signed the draft amendments to the law on state regulation of production and circulation of ethyl alcohol and alcohol-containing products, the Akorda press service said.
The law is purposed to protect economic interests, economic security of the state, people's lives and health. The amendments stipulate increase in rates for strong alcohol beverages by 3,2 times in 2014-2016. Besides, it prohibits selling alcohol from 9 pm until 12 am. Alcohol is banned at medical facilities, educational, cultural centers and closed sports halls, stadiums and gas stations.
