Kazakh-Portuguese cooperation development discussed
ASTANA. May 15. KAZINFORM Kazakh delegation headed by Executive Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ministry Rapil Zhoshybayev visited Portugal; Kazinform refers to the Kazakh MFA's press service.
The visit was aimed at discussing the issues of strengthening bilateral relations and completion of negotiations on the Kazakh-Portuguese agreement on the release of the holders of diplomatic passports from visa requirements.
R. Zhoshybayev held a meeting with Portugal's Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities António Braga. The issues of preparation for the informal summit of the OSCE Foreign Ministers and the visit of Portuguese Minister for Foreign Affairs Luís Amado to Kazakhstan were discussed at the meeting. The sides confirmed mutual readiness to conclude agreements on double taxation avoidance and international road transport. They agreed to develop bilateral cooperation in the spheres of higher education, scientific research and technology transfer.
The Portuguese Foreign Ministry highly appraised the foreign policy initiatives and economic achievements of Kazakhstan and expressed interest in development of multilateral cooperation.
The delegation also met with Emílio Rui Vilar, President of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Head of Partex Corporation. The opportunities of realization of joint projects in the fields of culture, arts, science and education were considered.
