Kazakh pop band Ringo shine at Türkvizyon Song Contest 2013
ISTANBUL. December 22. KAZINFORM Türkvizyon Song Contest 2013 was held in Eskişehir, Turkey on December 19-21. The international event brought together crooners and music bands from 24 countries.
Türkvizyon is the analogue of the popular Eurovision contest that covers a viewership of more than 300 million people.
Ringo boys band represented Kazakhstan at the 2013 Türkvizyon Song Contest. Ringo's Türkvizyon entry, Birlikpen Alga, was very popular among the public and allowed them to advance to the final among other eleven participating countries. Embassy of Kazakhstan to Turkey, Kazakh diaspora and Kazakhstani students studying at the Turkish universities cheered on the band throughout the three-day contest.
Kazakh pop group pulled off great performance in the final, but it was Farid Gasanov from Azerbaijan who won big that night. Acts from Belarus and Ukraine were ranked 2nd an 3rd respectively.
The city of Eskişehir is the 2013 cultural capital of the Turkic World.
