Kazakh PM, UN Under-Sec-Gen eye maternal, child mortality in Kazakhstan
ASTANA. October 29. KAZINFORM Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov met with Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund on Monday (October 29) at the house of government in Astana.
According to the Kazakh PM's press service, the sides discussed the problems of further cooperation between Kazakhstan and the organization, in particular, in the sphere of healthcare, and exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan.
The head of the Kazakh Government noted the problem of maternal and child mortality was of paramount importance for Kazakhstan, having stressed the important role of the UN projects in the field of healthcare.
Dr. Osotimehin, in his turn, said Kazakhstan was an absolute leader in the region and a significant partner of the UN.
