As the press service of the Senate informs, K. Sultanov made a report within the session on improvement of transparency of the incomes and budgets through the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiatives EITI. In particular, he informed the participants of Kazakhstan?s measures on overcoming the consequences of the global economic crisis. Due to the National Fund?s reserves Kazakhstan could adopt certain measures on supporting the banking sector, construction, small and medium businesses and social programs, the Senator stressed. The annual Message of the President of the country ?Through Crisis to Renovation and Development? is directed to realization of these tasks and coming out of the crisis with minimum losses. Touching upon the implementation of the EITI in Kazakhstan, K. Sultanov noted that its realization is based on the memorandum of understanding signed among the extractive companies, parliamentarians and the representatives of the social sector. The Senator also informed the attendees of establishment of a National Stakeholders' Council under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources consisting of the representatives of the Government, Parliament, companies and NGOs and the Civil Alliance. Several amendments to the current legislation on subsoil use were introduced within the implementation of the EITI process. As is known, the OSCE PA biennial economic conferences provide the parliamentarians with an opportunity to exchange opinions with the colleagues, international experts and deepen cooperation within the OSCE. The previous economic conference of the OSCE PA was devoted to deepening cooperation through the international trade. It was held in 2007 in Andorra.
