Kazakh parliament OKs sending its military observers of UN missions
ASTANA . December 20. KAZINFORM - At a joint meeting of the Kazakh parliament, the MPs backed Nursultan Nazarbayev's proposal to send officers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan to observe UN missions.
Introducing the issue, the Minister of Defense, Adilbek Jaksybekov explained that it meant sending our military servicemen to conflict zones with unstable military-political situation, which implies certain risks. The minister stressed that observers would not be involved in military conflicts, they even would have no weapons. Their main task is to monitor and assist in monitoring and report the situation to the United Nations.
The defense minister underscores that the soldiers will be recruited on a voluntary basis, because as military servicemen they should clearly realize that their work is risky. "In the future we plan to send about 50 people, after studying the situation and consulting with the foreign ministry. These will be both contract soldiers and officers, "- said A. Zhaksybekov.
According to him, these operations will help our military men gain the combat experience and that of working in international coalitions.
