Kazakh Parliament adopted amendments to Constitution providing for extending powers of President at national referendum

ASTANA. January 14. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ The draft Law "On amendments to the Constitution of Kazakhstan" was considered at the joint session of the Houses of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
The adopted amendments provide for inserting paragraph 5, Article 42 of the Constitution that provides for possible extension of the powers of First President of Kazakhstan - Leader of the Nation Nursultan Nazarbayev at the national referendum.
As Chairman of the Majilis Ural Mukhametzhanov emphasized the adopted amendments to the Constitution found a legal basis for holding the national referendum on extending powers of the Head of State.
