Kazakh Ombudsman took part in 66th session of UN General Assembly

ASTANA. October 27. KAZINFORM Kazakh Human Rights Commissioner Askar Shakirov took part in the 66th session of the UN General Assembly within the framework of its Third Committee; Kazinform was told by the Ombudsman's Office in Kazakhstan.
Shakirov made a general statement about the situation and the ongoing work to promote human rights in the country. He noted the progress in the human dimension and protection of human rights made by Kazakhstan over 20 years of independence. He also told about the prospects for the development of state human rights mechanisms, including the Ombudsman Institute, in order to promote human rights and democratic reforms.
