Kazakh Ombudsman met with Kjell Magne Bondevik

ASTANA. May 11. KAZINFORM Kazakh Ombudsman Askar Shakirov has held a meeting with President of the Center for Peace and Human Rights, former Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik today.

The purpose of the visit of the Norwegian politician is to discuss a draft report on human rights in Kazakhstan prepared together with the Norwegian Helsinki Committee that is planned to be officially presented within the OSCE High-Level Conference on Tolerance and Non-Discrimination in Astana in June this year.

The Ombudsman briefed K.Bondevik on the priorities of the state activity connected with protection and promotion of human rights and measures taken by the Government in this direction, in particular, in the field of freedom of conscience.

The Norwegian guest highly appraised the activity of the state and noted that the Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship made great contribution to development of tolerance and interconfessional concord.
