Kazakh Ombudsman, Iranian Ambassador met in Astana
ASTANA. April 11. KAZINFORM Human Rights Commissioner of Kazakhstan Askar Shakirov has met with Ambassador of Iran to our country Gorban Seyfi in Astana today, Kazinform has learnt from the press service of the Ombudsman.
The foreign diplomat was familiarized with Kazakhstan's activity in human rights ensuring, namely in improvement of the legislation and law-enforcement system, interaction with non-governmental and international organizations and legal education of the population.
Gorban Seyfi highly appraised Kazakhstan's policy in maintaining inter-ethnic harmony, ensuring rights and freedoms of national minorities, religious tolerance and gender equality.
The parties agreed that the forthcoming chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the Organization of the Islamic Conference would give an additional impulse to the Organization's activity.
The Iranian Ambassador invited the Kazakh Ombudsman to the first session of the ombudsmen and heads of anti-corruption bodies of the Organization of Economic Cooperation scheduled for May 2011 in Tehran.
