Kazakh Olympic champ allegedly punched a woman at Astana nightclub
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstani Olympic champion Bakhtiyar Artayev may face charges for allegedly assaulting a woman in an Astana nightclub, according to Express-K newspaper.
The newspaper says that Aisulu Ibrashova, an Astana resident, and another woman were dancing in a nightclub when the accident happened. A man spanked Ibrashova on the bum and after a short verbal altercation punched her in the face. The assaulter fled the venue right after the brawl. "My friend told me that the man who had stricken me in the face was a professional boxer Bakhtiyar Artayev," Ibrashova recalls. "The punch was so powerful. I have a huge bruise on my face." The police are investigating the case. Bakhtiyar Artayev, the man who clinched boxing gold for Kazakhstan at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, may face charges of recklessly causing injury.
