Kazakh national accused of hijacking attempt taken to Rome's prison, MFA

ASTANA. May 10. KAZINFORM /Askar Bimendin/ "Kazakh citizen Valery Tolmachev, accused of an attempt to hijack a plane to Libya, was taken to the prison of Rome for health reasons," official spokesman of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reports Askar Abdrakhmanov told a briefing.

The second court sitting is expected to take place this week. Last week Tolmachev was taken from the Civitavecchia prison to the prison of Rome.

As earlier reported, Valery Tolmashev, 48, an adviser to Kazakhstan's delegation at UNESCO, tried to hijack a Paris-Rome flight and divert the plane to Libya's capital Tripoli. One of the hostesses was slightly bruised then.
