Kazakh Majilis Speaker meets members of U.S. Congress

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan's Majilis Speaker Kabibulla Dzhakupov has met today with members of U.S. Congress Dana Rohrabacher and Gregory Meeks in Astana.

At the meeting, Kazakhstani and U.S. MPs stressed the importance of further development of inter-parliamentary ties. The Majilis Speaker congratulated his colleagues on the 225th anniversary of the United States Congress. The interlocutors praised the strategic character of Kazakhstani-U.S. relations and dynamic development of commercial and economic as well as cultural and humanitarian partnership. The sides expressed confidence that Kazakhstan and the U.S. have huge potential for further successful interaction. Sales turnover between the two countries exceeded $2.7 billion in 2013. There are more than 300 joint ventures and nearly 100 offices of the U.S. companies in Kazakhstan. Kabibulla Dzhakupov said that the U.S. companies should step up their role in the implementation of industrial and innovative projects in Kazakhstan and preparations for the EXPO-2017 event in Astana.
