Kazakh Majilis Speaker, Japan's ex-Premier debated bilateral coop issues

ASTANA. May 4. KAZINFORM Chairman of the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament Ural Mukhamedzhanov has meet with former Prime Minister of Japan Yukio Hatoyama within the frameworks of the IV Astana Economic Forum.

Ural Mukhamedzhanov expressed condolences to the people of Japan affected by the tragic earthquake. In his turn, Yukio Hatoyama noted that the people of Kazakhstan suffered disasters from atomic explosions at the Semipalatinsk nuclear range and therefore Kazakhstanis took the grief of Japan's people very much to the heart. He thanked Kazakhstan for compassion and humanitarian aid.

The parties debated further extension of Kazakh-Japan relations, as well as a parliamentary dialogue. "Deepening of strategic partnership with Kazakhstan is one of the priority strands of the country's foreign policy," Mukhamedzhanov stated.
