Kazakh-Latvian consular consultations take place in Riga
The Latvian foreign ministry hosted the consular consultations between the foreign policy departments of Kazakhstan and Latvia under the leadership of director of the Kazakh Consular Service Department Bauyrzhan Akatayev and director general of the Latvian Consular and Diplomatic Facilities Directorate of Jurijs Pogrebnaks, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from the press service of the Kazakh MFA.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan, as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Border Guard and the Ministry of Welfare of Latvia.
During the consultations the sides discussed in detail the issues of visa facilitation by the European Union for the citizens of Kazakhstan, including necessary further steps of Kazakhstan in this direction. Special attention was paid to the improvement of mechanisms for the protection of the rights of citizens of the two countries, including those engaged in labor activities.
At the end of the consultations, the parties confirmed their interest in continuing co-operation between the competent institutions of the two countries.
