Kazakh-Korean trade turnover decreased by 80% compared to 2007: A.Peruashev

ALMATY. November 25. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ionova/ "The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Korea decreased by 80% compared to the last year. During January-March, 2009 the trade turnover between or countries amounted to USD 90 mln", Chairman of the National Economic Chamber of Kazakhstan "Atameken Union" Azat Peruashev has said today at the Kazakh-Korean Investment Forum in Almaty.

There are several reasons of reduction connected with the world economic crisis.

"In accordance with the data of 2008, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Korea amounted to USD 754 mln, the growth was up to 12% compared to 2007. The volume of export was up to USD 330 mln, import - USD 423 mln. The export increased by 52% last year, and the import decreased", A.Peruashev noted.

According to him, the main articles of the Kazakh export to Korea are raw materials - uranium, ferro-alloys, rolled metal products and base metals. Higher-value-added products prevail in the export.

"These facts witness that we successfully attract Korean capital to our country. the current task is to develop trade between tow countries as well as use rich natural resources of Kazakhstan and Korean technologies and investments for establishment of joint enterprises", A.Peruashev said.
