Kazakh judoka lost his first bout at the 2024 Olympic Games

Today, July 30, Kazakh judoka Abylaikhan Zhubanazar lost his first bout at the now-running 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Hungary’s Attila Ungvári beat Abylaikhan Zhubanazar in the men’s 81 kg Round of 32.

Abylaikhan Zhubanazar was born on February 15, 2000, in Kyzylorda region.

As earlier reported, Kazakhstan secured three medals at the Olympic Games.

On July 27 Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev won a bronze medal in the 10-meter mixed team air rifle event. The same day the captain of the judo team of Kazakhstan, Yeldos Smetov, pocketed the first gold at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Smetov defeated Luka Mkheidze, the bronze medal winner of Tokyo 2020. Notably, it is the third Olympic medal in his career. In 2016 Yeldos bagged silver and clinched bronze in 2020 in Tokyo.

On July 28 another Kazakh judoka Gusman Kyrgyzbayev seized bronze in the men’s 66 kg final bout in Paris.
