Kazakh, Indian entrepreneurs discussed coop in agricultural sector
ALMATY. October 13. KAZINFORM /Yelena Ilinskaya/ A business meeting sponsored by the Indian Embassy in Kazakhstan and Commerce and Industry Chamber of Kazakhstan was held in Almaty within a visit of Minister in charge of Department of Agriculture of Punjab State Sucha Singh Langah, the press service of the Chamber reports.
The Indian delegation included the leading farmers and representatives of the agrarian industry of Punjab. The Kazakh side was represented by members of akimats of Almaty and Almaty region.
Vice President of the Kazakh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tatyana Zhdanova noted that India plaid special role in the foreign economic activity of the Chamber. The Kazakh-Indian Business Council was established in 1994. The council provided the businessmen of two states with an opportunity to discuss topical issues, joint commercial and investment projects.
According to the representatives of the Punjab Agro Industries Corporation, the state produces over 20% of wheat, 11.5% of rice, 10% of cotton, 45% of mushrooms, 26% of honey and 10% of milk. Besides, Punjab is the biggest producer of fruits and vegetables in India. In this regard, the main purpose of the visit is studying opportunities for cooperation and establishment of joint enterprises in the field of agriculture and related industries.
