Kazakh Government slammed for negligence of housing and utilities situation
ASTANA. November 5. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan still does not have generally accepted standards of delivering services in the sphere of housing and utilities infrastructure, says deputy of Majilis (Lower Chamber of the Kazakh Parliament) Svetlana Romanovskaya.
"There are many questions as regards the money that has been alloted to improve the housing stock and make it safer. Basically, there are no standards under which the services can be delivered to the consumers in that sphere in Kazakhstan," Ms Romanovskaya announced during a Tuesday press briefing of the Central Communications Service under the President of Kazakhstan in Astana.
According to her, the bulk of complaints from the public to the Government relates to the housing and utilities infrastructure. "Nearly 70% of all complaints are related to the situation with housing and public utilities sector. The regulatory framework has been set in order, nonetheless, it does not work," the majiliswoman said.
In this connection Ms Romanovskaya harshly criticized the Government's negligence. "I believe that the Government of Kazakhstan still does not have a crystal clear strategy on how to improve the housing and utilities situation. This has been a touchy subject for the last 20 years," she concluded.
