Kazakh Government OKs program on development of transport infrastructure for 2020
ASTANA. November 26. KAZINFORM The Government of Kazakhstan has approved the program on development of transport infrastructure for 2020 at its Tuesday session.
Minister of Transport and Communications Askar Zhumagaliyev who introduced the draft program noted that 30 thousand kms of motorways, 8 202 railway roads and railways stations across the country will be repaired within the program by 2020.
The program also envisages a number of other measures in order to develop the national transport infrastructure, for instance, the network of motorways. 4.5 thousand kms of republican roads are to be marked by the first technical grade by 2020, according to the Ministry of Transport and Communications. By that the Government plans to increase the road traffic safety. Consequently, the number of republican highways in good or satisfactory condition will make at least 89%, including "Center - South", "Center - East" and "Center - West" motorways and the international corridor 'Western Europe - Western China'.
In addition to repair and construction of new roads, the program also pays utmost attention to the motorway service and passenger transportation infrastructure. 260 motorway service facilities are to be erected until 2020 mainly at the expense of the private investments. Only 31 out of 260 facilities are believed to be built at the expense of the republican budget. 9 bus service stations, 45 coach terminals, 155 passenger service points and 1 048 taxi stands will be constructed in the regions of the country in order to develop passenger transportation infrastructure.
