Kazakh Government adopts plan for development of Zhezkazgan, Satpayev towns
ASTANA. December 27. KAZINFORM The Government of Kazakhstan has adopted the comprehensive plan of socioeconomic development of the towns of Zhezkazgan and Satpayev in Ulytausky district in Karaganda region, Kazinform correspondent reports.
The Minister of Finance, Bolat Zhamishev presented the said plan at the Friday meeting of the Cabinet. In his words, the document chiefly envisages the introduction of new technologies at the backbone enterprise of that province - Kazakhmys. "The suggested technologies will allow to extract raw materials in next 40-50 years, instead of earlier projected 15-20 years," Minister Zhamishev noted.
"This is a fateful decision for both the enterprise and the region. The level of industrial development is of paramount importance for Zhezkazgan region's economy; it is the main indicator of economic situation and sustainable economic climate," he stressed.
The comprehensive plan offers solutions to all the existing problems related to the introduction of sophisticated technologies at Kazakhmys enterprise. As a result of these measures, tax collections will additionally make nearly KZT 323 billion by 2020. The volume of industrial production in the region will increase by 32%. At the same time, salaries of 22 thousand Kazakhmys employees are expected to grow by 14%.
NOTE: 173 thousand people or 13% of Kazakhstan's population currently reside in the region.
